GILDEN (adj., Middle English): formed from gold; (figurative) glorious; worthy of honour; blessed; rich

Gilden Studio is an interior architecture & design practice based in London.

Drawing on an interdisciplinary background spanning classical architecture, music and mathematics, we create sensitively crafted spaces that are resonant and richly informed.

Our approach is underpinned by the principles of space psychology, with careful consideration given to the cross-section of design and the relationships we have with our built environments. As well as prioritising sustainability, we have a particular interest in developing concepts that acknowledge and accommodate neuro and physical diversity.

We work with both private and commercial clients, as well as overseeing our own development portfolio; our first in-house project is scheduled for completion in September 2025.

Nikki studied Classics at Cambridge University before attending the Royal Academy of Music. She later joined the Teach First programme, and spent over a decade teaching Maths in inner city London schools, becoming a subject leader and curriculum designer with a particular focus on the relationship between creativity and STEM.

With a lifelong passion for architecture and design, her approach is guided by the cross-cultural references from her diverse range of experience, alongside the principles of psychology assimilated during her time as a teacher.

She continues to works with young people in educational settings in South London.
