Honor Oak Garden Flat

We recently finished extending and renovating this garden flat set on the ground floor of a Victorian house. Our first in-house development, we added a rear and side extension while sensitively restoring the existing spaces.

We wanted to honour the fabric of this period property, prioritising the preservation of original features while also reinstating those that had been lost. We removed the laminate floor and replaced it with hand-scraped engineered oak, and restored the cast iron fireplace. We also added replica plaster cornice to highlight the generous proportions of the original space.

In the new extension, we used dijon limestone alongside solid oak cabinetry. New timber sash windows framed a central courtyard, and french doors open out from the kitchen into the generous south-facing garden. Bronze hardware sits alongside quartz worktops, and a bank of tall cabinets provides invaluable storage, ensuring the space works hard for its modest footprint.
